Are the Addams Family moving to the West End?

If the rumours are true, everyone’s favourite weird and wonderful family could be coming to London’s Theatreland as Broadway’s Addams Family musical hops across the pond.

Applications for the license of the musical opened last year for amateur performances of the show between 1st January 2014 and 31st December 2015. A Devonshire theatre company has been selected as one of the first theatre companies to stage what could be the UK premiere production of the show this December. The show, which has been a hit on Broadway, is then rumoured to launch on the West End and embark on a UK tour.

The Addams Family is a delightfully devilish musical about the oddball bunch made famous in the cartoons of Charles Addams. Written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice — the duo behind the smash hit Jersey Boys — The Addams Family features an original story inspired by the cartoon characters of Wednesday, Morticia, Gomez, Lurch and Uncle Fester.

The original Broadway show boasts a stellar creative team with direction by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, and original direction and set and costume design by Olivier Award-winning Julian Crouch and Phelim McDermott.
