Break The Safe, brand new National Lottery show hosted by Nick Knowles

Thames Scotland (part of FremantleMedia UK) has been commissioned to produce a brand new quiz show for Saturday nights on BBC One, to air in 2013. Hosted by Nick Knowles, Break The Safe (8x40 minutes) will see three pairs battle it out to ‘break the safe’ and take up to £100,000 as a clock counts down the time.

Break The Safe was commissioned by Danny Cohen, Controller BBC One; Mark Linsey, Controller Entertainment Commissioning; and Executive Editor Entertainment Commissioning, Alan Tyler.

The three couples take part in a question and answer session to determine which of them will be the last pair standing, and the pairing who will ultimately attempt to ‘break the safe’. The safe contains £100,000 – but how much one pair will play for depends on how much money they earn throughout the various Q&A rounds in the show.

"It’s a game of nerve and skill – nail-biting to the end!” commented Suzy Lamb, Head of Entertainment, Thames and Executive Producer.

“Being so close to so much money puts an added pressure and focus on our pairs, but it’s only those with real nerve who will succeed in the end.”

Alan Tyler said: “Break The Safe has the potential to be a gripping watch. The pilot felt nerve jangling and fresh in equal measure and we are excited to be commissioning this for the BBC One audience.”
